INTOSAI Working Group on Public Debt to hold its Annual Meeting in May
The INTOSAI Working Group on Public Debt (WGPD) will hold its Annual Meeting virtually on May 19-20, 2021 via Cisco Webex.
The Philippine Commission on Audit, as the incumbent WGPD Chair, will preside the meeting which is expected to bring forth discussions on how Supreme Audit Institutions have been coping with the effects and impacts of the pandemic. The discussion shall revolve around this year’s meeting theme “Auditing Public Debt in a Crisis (COVID-19 Considerations and the Public Debt Auditor’s Experience).”
Distinguished guest speakers from multilateral organizations, such as the IMF and the World Bank, as well as representatives from the UNCTAD and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), are expected to participate in the upcoming meeting, to shed light on the stakeholder expectations on public debt at this time of the pandemic. Presentations from volunteer SAI members will also provide much needed experience sharing in the audit of public debt under this pandemic situation.
Last year’s Annual Meeting of the Working Group was, likewise, organized virtually in August 2020 for the first time in view of the unprecedented global restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
