The "G" initiative aims to update the definition and criteria for GUIDS, and establish a clear process for their development and approval, ensuring that high-quality GUIDS are included as authoritative guidance within the IFPP. This project is a great opportunity to contribute to the future of GUIDS by helping to determine the criteria for these pronouncements and ensuring their content aligns with the specific needs of SAIs. Your participation will enhance the usability of guidance related to implementing the ISSAIs and clarifying the role of GUIDS, which is vital for strengthening professionalism across the INTOSAI community. SAI India, as KSC Chair, is happy to steer the “G” Initiative. as Project Lead.  

The ‘G’ Initiative will be executed in two distinct phases.

Phase 1: Initial Assessment Stage will emphasize on review of the current structure of GUIDS and process in place for development of GUIDs, to identify strengths to be built upon, gaps to be addressed and weaknesses to be overcome.  Key activities in this phase will include:

• Review existing GUID structure and development process.
• Review of current global practices of other professional bodies (IFAC, IPSASB) to develop guidance materials.
• Develop Preliminary Assessment Report outlining current framework, strengths/weaknesses, future needs, and bench marking parameters.
• Consult stakeholders (SDP Core Group, FIPP through LOs, project group members) for feedback.

Phase 1 activities are proposed to be done through two sub-groups within the “G” project team as follows:

• Sub-group 1: Review of Existing GUID structure within IFPP, and process for GUID development.
• Sub-group 2: Review of current global practices of other professional bodies (like IFAC, IPSASB) for processes and good practices relevant to developing guidance materials.
